Borneo by Georgina McGuinness: As a jungle trekker and mountain climber, I have decided I make a very good news reader. And never was this more obvious than back in August when I joined 40 other participants in yet another unique fundraising event by the McGuinness McDermott Foundation. Borneo was our destination as we re-traced the steps of around 2,000 Aussie prisoners of war who took part in the Sandakan Death March back in 1945. The 60 kilometre track has only recently been discovered .. along with it, a giant slice of our country's military history, which saw only six soldiers escape the tyranny of their Japanese captors.
